Scaling agile transformation to stay ahead
of market requirements

A defence manufacturer was facing challenges in adapting to the rapidly changing requirements of defence contracts due to its traditional, linear project management approach and was struggling to move from a waterfall approach to agile.

Our solution

We led the company through an agile transformation, set up agile processes and templates for the use of agile, adapted agile methodologies and docked these in with the wider Enterprise SAFE (lite) approach they have been looking to adopt. This included restructuring programme teams into smaller, cross-functional units, helping to set up JIRA, implementing iterative development cycles, providing programme increment planning and delivering ongoing agile coaching.   

RESULTS

The client now has a scaled approach to Agile delivery, coordinating the actions of over 200 engineers. The planning processes have improved, with teams developing and agreeing plans with their stakeholders each programme increment​. We supported people from the leadership team to deliver team members through the entire agile change process. Now generally accepted, the client saw an increase in delivery performance and a significant reduction in time-to-market for deliverables.
